Full Moon in Pisces August 30th, 2023

How to Use This Blog

I create horoscopes for you to use as a tool for introspection and reflection. When observing the outside world from a general perspective, I recognize that we need more encouragement to work on developing and understanding our inner world. You can use the information in this blog to prompt guided introspection.

Background Information

When using Astrology as a tool for healing and introspection (within the realm of Natal Astrology), the planets represent energies that correlate with the different manifestations of our nature. They show us that many parts make a whole. The zodiac signs represent atmospheres or energy signatures through which the different parts of our nature (the planets) express themselves. Lastly, astrological houses represent the various life areas of our lives. From this viewpoint, interpreting horoscopes can be easier to digest and more practical for immediate implementation.

The study of Astrology is from the perspective of the Earth looking out towards the cosmos. In other words, Astrology is an Earth-based natural science. Having this piece of context at the back of the mind can be a helpful best practice when discussing anything related to the study of Astrology.

Full Moon and New Moon 101

Full Moons are always in the opposite sign of the Sun. For example, on May 16th, 2022, there was a total lunar eclipse in the sign Scorpio, and the Sun was in Taurus. Scorpio and Taurus are opposite signs. On the other hand, New Moons always occur within the same sign, the Sun. For example, On October 25th, 2022, there was a partial solar eclipse in the sign Scorpio, and the Sun, along with the new Moon, was in the sign Scorpio.

What You Came For

On Wednesday, August 30th, 2023, there will be a full Moon in the water sign Pisces. What is notable about this full Moon is that it will conjunct Saturn, the planet representing structure, challenges and delays. Saturn has gained a reputation for maleficence from traditional Astrology. From this perspective, some Astrologers of that time tended to view the challenges, delays and setbacks experienced during Saturn transits as punishments. However, like all things in the third dimension, there is an equal and contrasting duality. Self-mastery, endurance and long-term rewards are also representations of Saturn. Here, we can see that perspective is everything!

The Moon and Saturn have correlations, which can add context to this full Moon.

  • The domicile of the Moon is the sign Cancer, and Saturn's domicile is the sign Capricorn. Cancer and Capricorn are opposites- meaning their atmospheres are inverted versions of each other. (sidenote: traditionally, Aquarius is also a domicile of Saturn.)

  • The movement of the Moon is used as a measurement of time, and "Father Time" is a nickname for Saturn.

  • The Moon has roughly a 29.5-day cycle, meaning the Moon takes about 29.5 days to go through each sign of the Zodiac—and is where the concept of a "month" originated. Saturn roughly has a 29.5-year cycle, meaning Saturn takes around 29.5 years to go through each sign of the Zodiac.

  • From an Astrological perspective, the Moon is considered the nurturer, while Saturn is often considered the disciplinarian.

Pisces's atmosphere is similar to that of Cancer, making it a welcomed place to experience introspection and emotional release. However, it may feel particularly challenging when confronted with our trial-and-error process and may lead some to want to escape as a form of coping.

Horoscope

The clouds have moved away from the Sun, giving you the clarity you did not know you needed. Limiting beliefs regarding your potential and feeling unsatisfied with aspects of your present reality have surfaced so you can reconcile the paradoxical nature of these two states of being. It is possible to hold two things simultaneously, but contrary to popular belief, multitasking is inefficient. Task switching, on the other hand—moving from one task to another, would be a more worthwhile skill to master. That way, we can acknowledge that two things can be present at once without the burden and thinking we must let go of one to focus on the other. We can hold both at once, focus our attention on one at a time, and adjust to the pressure that comes with being a dynamic and multifaceted being. (It is 12:34 p.m. as I write this) It is a graduation to be able to acknowledge your self-imposed limitations. It is also a helpful message to know when you are unsatisfied. Judging yourself for how you feel will create a cognitive dissonance that will give you more to heal in the long run. Be present with what surfaces, and remember to thank yourself, your ancestors, the Earth and whatever God is to you for getting you where you are. Your awareness is EVERYTHING!

Journal Prompts

  • What have you convinced yourself you cannot do? What created this belief?

  • Are you satisfied with your reality?

  • How do you know you did your best?

Take Away:

Our inner nurturer and disciplinarian have many things in common. Finding a way to see their duality can help you be an even better parent to yourself. If you are feeling the need to create room for introspection, emotional release and digesting your current trial-and-error process, know that you are picking up on heightened shifts within the cosmos. It is possible to have two contrary realities present at once. Adjusting to the pressure that comes with it, instead of succumbing to it, will strengthen your resolve and assist you with learning how to reconcile duality. Our limiting beliefs are caps we have placed on our potential. While it may feel daunting, remember you can remove them with self-compassion, introspection and persistence. Lastly, feelings of dissatisfaction help us indicate how to measure what “doing our best” looks like. Consider it a reality check that you are capable of more!
