Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio: May 16th, 2022

Blog Post Synopsis

Within this blog post, we will be discussing the upcoming full Moon lunar eclipse in the sign Scorpio and how you can use it as a tool for healing, introspection and self mastery. Get your journal, it is time to reflect!

How to Use This Blog

The reason I create horoscopes is so that they can be used as a tool for introspection and reflection. I recognize, when observing the outside world from a general perspective, we receive very little encouragement to work on developing and understanding our inner world. Use the information provided in this blog for material to prompt guided introspection.

Background Information

When using Astrology as a tool for healing and introspection (within the realm of Natal Astrology), the planets can be viewed as energies that represent different parts of our nature, or frequencies that resonate with and influence different parts of our nature. They show us that we are comprised of many parts that make a whole. The signs of the zodiac can be viewed as the atmospheres that the different parts of our nature (the planets) express themselves through. Lastly, the astrological houses can be viewed as the different life areas that make up our lives. From this view point, interpreting horoscopes can be easier to digest and more practical for immediate implementation.

What You Came For

Raise your hand if you constantly plan for the future, are afraid of the dark, or often imagine the worst case scenario? Through persistent observation, I have noticed that the above habits or experiences are distractions for the fear of being alone.

Do you fear being alone?

This fear can feel especially challenging nowadays, with the recent rise of self love content and the normalizing of the notion that “we are all we need”. While I find myself saying that exact phrase more often then not, I would like to shine a light on the contrasting experience; the experience of feeling afraid of ourselves to the point of fearing being alone because we will than have to experience ourselves without a distraction or some kind of supervision. This Full Moon total lunar eclipse will have many of us feeling the density that shadows our light and some of us may feel this presence more intensely over the next six months. Eclipses, both solar and lunar, have a lasting effect that lasts around six months long, which makes these periods effective for shadow work.

When the Moon travels through the atmosphere of the sign Scorpio, astrologically the Moon is referred to being in its '“fall”. The term fall is used within Astrology to indicate a debilitating position. Debilitating positions are similar to compromising positions. Now of course, the planet, or the Moon in this case, does not literally get harmed in this position, however the frequency it emits can be compared to noise— obscured sound in comparison to the frequency it emits when it is not in this position. This obscured sound is what we feel here on Earth because remember, sound, light and matter are different expressions of energy and energy can be experienced through our senses. Not to mention, the majority of us can only perceive 5% of the world around us, which indicates that the majority of the information we receive does not come from what we can see but from what we can feel and experience through our other senses.

The emotions that arise when the Moon is in the sign Scorpio can feel similar to the sound of nails on a chalkboard, static on a television screen or 30 people talking at once— overwhelming, and challenging to immediately understand. When the Moon is in the sign Scorpio, the energy of the Moon becomes dense and deep, which can feel incredibly uncomfortable and even painful to experience. Due to these conditions, avoiding these heavier emotions tends to be the path chosen by many, which only increases the emotional weight, making it even more uncomfortable to experience.

Full Moon Journal Prompts

  • What parts of myself or memories have I been avoiding?

  • Why have I avoiding these parts of myself or memories?

  • What patterns have I noticed as a result of avoiding these parts of myself or memories?

  • Why am do I fear of the truth?

  • Why do I fear of being alone?

  • What can I do today to create an environment that welcomes all parts of who I am?

Conclusion

Now would be an opportune time to approach your emotional wellbeing with curiosity as opposed to fear, anxiety or judgement. Any dense emotions that surface during the next six months are emotions that may have been rejected by us due to conditioning from society, our families etc. Offering ourselves self compassion and openness can break any spirals/cycles that may have us feeling as though we are repeating the same things over and over again and getting no where desirable.
