Full Moon in Aries: October 9th, 2022

How to Use This Blog

I create horoscopes for you to use as a tool for introspection and reflection. When observing the outside world from a general perspective, I recognize that we receive very little encouragement from working on developing and understanding our inner world. You can use the information in this blog to prompt guided introspection.

Background Information

When using Astrology as a tool for healing and introspection (within the realm of Natal Astrology), the planets represent energies that correlate with the different manifestations of our nature. They show us that we are many parts that make a whole. The zodiac signs represent atmospheres or energy signatures through which the different parts of our nature (the planets) express themselves. Lastly, astrological houses represent the various life areas that make up our lives. From this viewpoint, interpreting horoscopes can be easier to digest and more practical for immediate implementation.

Reminder: The study of Astrology is from the perspective of the Earth looking out towards the cosmos. In other words, Astrology is an Earth-based natural science. Having this piece of context at the back of the mind can be a helpful best practice when discussing anything related to the study of Astrology.

Full Moon and New Moon 101

Full Moons are always in the opposite sign of the Sun. For example, on May 16th, 2022, there was a total lunar eclipse in the sign Scorpio, and the Sun was in the sign Taurus. Scorpio and Taurus are opposites signs. On the other hand, New Moons always occur within the same sign, the Sun. For example, On July 28th, the Sun was in the sign Leo, along with the new Moon.

What You Came For

On Sunday, October 9th, 2022, there will be a full Moon in the fire sign Aries. This full Moon signifies the start of a new emotional cycle in the same way Aries season represents the start of the natural new year. This full Moon also conjuncts the asteroid Chiron, adding an element of deep healing. Leading up to this full Moon, be prepared to experience the ending of emotional chapters that have run their course, along with being profoundly triggered by unhealed wounds. What is leaving is creating space for healing and new opportunities.

Chiron 101

On November 1st, 1977, in Pasadena, California, Charles T. Kowal discovered an asteroid between Saturn and Uranus and named it after the Greek centaur, Chiron. (Reinhart, 2009, p. 24) There are many variations of the mythology of Chiron; however, here is the most widespread. If you are interested in learning more about Chiron, I recommend reading Chiron and The Healing Journey by Melaine Reinhart.

Kronos (Saturn), after the birth of his children Zeus (Jupiter) and Hades (Pluto), developed a liking for the nymph Philyra and was bold in his efforts to pursue her. Uninterested, Philyra turned herself into a mare to get away from Kronos; however, Kronos was one step ahead of her and turned himself into a horse and mated with her, resulting in Philyra becoming pregnant. When Philyra gave birth and laid her eyes on her baby for the first time, she was horrified when she saw a centaur, a half-human from the torso up and half horse from the torso down. Philyira begged the Gods to change her into anything other than what she was so she would no longer be the mother of such a creature. The Gods answered her request, and Philyra was turned into a Linden Tree, leaving her baby abandoned and alone. Apollo, the Sun god, took in Chiron as his own and mentored him into becoming a teacher, healer, musician and prophet. Throughout his life, Chiron mentored great heroes and created a renowned legacy for himself despite living with the initial wound of his mother's rejection. He was later physically injured (there are many variations of how) and ultimately had to endure significant pain to heal himself internally and externally. (Reinhart, 2009, p. 54 -55) From an Astrological perspective, the asteroid Chiron signifies our deepest wounds, along with the paradox that those wounds are the gifts of healing we are here to offer the world/ humanity during our time on Earth. The story of Chiron also shows us that our unattended internal pain will materialize as physical injuries until we bring our attention inward and address the source of the dis-ease.

Aries 101

The atmosphere of the sign Aries teaches us the value our self-awareness has on our ability to exist presently. Our self-awareness also grants us the ability to be aware of our environment—as within, so without. When we live in the present moment and trust our instincts, there is no need to worry about danger because we will be alerted by the first sign. However, when we live in a distracted state, dangerous situations can appear to have snuck up on us, leaving us feeling ill-prepared, disoriented and panicked. The aftermath of these situations can result in us becoming guarded, aggressive and defensive to self-protect, which does us a disservice because it takes us out of the present moment.

From a modern Astrological perspective, the sign Aries is often used as an archetype to represent the state of survival. The concept of survival reveals the polarity created here on Earth between life and death. Shifting ourselves to consider the polarity of life and death as a single concept instead of a binary can help us learn how to respond appropriately to danger, which has mutated into the state of stress in our modern day. The nervous system plays a vital role in keeping us safe. Our sympathetic nervous system is responsible for our fight-or-flight response to stress and danger. When this system is activated, we immediately become highly alert, anticipating something awful.

On the other hand, our parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for our rest and digest function. We stimulate this part of our nervous system when we are relaxed and at rest. Learning how to disarm our sympathetic nervous system when we are not facing imminent danger and activating our parasympathetic nervous system can help lower our stress levels and bring us calmly to the present. While the functions of our nervous system are domains of the planet Mercury and the signs it rules, Gemini and Virgo, understanding how our body responds to stress and peace can be helpful markers for measuring our state of presence. Only within this state can we access the fullness of our awareness and benefit from the atmosphere of Aries.

Horoscope

Projecting your insecurities onto those around you will not resolve your internal discomfort, so stop attempting to part with the pain and listen to it. You are feeling triggered for a reason. Consider the pain you feel as the cry of the wounds that long for your attention. When was the last time you evaluated the amount of internal discomfort you allow yourself to bear daily? Having a high pain tolerance does not mean you must live at 99%! Be kind to yourself. Handling your wounds with care and delicacy will show you the value compassion and empathy have when dealing with painful situations. You have experienced your fair share of agony; however, avoiding it will turn it into suffering. How long will you live without feeling to avoid addressing the inevitable? How long must you feel pain until you realize that you are hurt? How long must you be hurt before you do something about it? The same wounds you procrastinate on confronting are gifts of healing the world need to receive from you.

Conclusion

Our ability to heal ourselves is contingent on our ability to be present and relaxed. Expanding our view on existence to incorporate life and death as one concept can assist us appropriately responding to stress so we can avoid living on high alert as our default setting. When we allow ourselves to slow down, relax and respond, becoming aware of ourselves, our environment and the wounds we unconsciously nurse provides us with all the information needed to live a life of purpose and peacefulness. Guarding yourself with aggression and defence does not keep the danger you fear out; it traps it inside because it emanates from you. Protecting yourself with aggression and defence makes it harder to receive help when needed most. Peace is receptive. Opening yourself up and allowing your walls to fall catalyzes deep healing.
