New Moon in Leo: July 28th, 2022

Blog Post Synopsis

Within this blog post, we will be discussing the upcoming new Moon in the sign Leo and how you can use it as a tool for healing, introspection and self mastery. Get your journal, it is time to reflect!

How to Use This Blog

The reason I create horoscopes is so that they can be used as a tool for introspection and reflection. I recognize, when observing the outside world from a general perspective, we receive very little encouragement to work on developing and understanding our inner world. Use the information provided in this blog for material to prompt guided introspection.

Background Information

When using Astrology as a tool for healing and introspection (within the realm of Natal Astrology), the planets can be viewed as energies that represent different parts of our nature, or frequencies that resonate with and influence different parts of our nature. They show us that we are comprised of many parts that make a whole. The signs of the zodiac can be viewed as the atmospheres that the different parts of our nature (the planets) express themselves through. Lastly, the astrological houses can be viewed as the different life areas that make up our lives. From this view point, interpreting horoscopes can be easier to digest and more practical for immediate implementation.

Reminder: The study of Astrology is from the perspective of the Earth looking out towards the cosmos. In other words, Astrology is an Earth based natural science. Having this piece of context at the back the mind can be a helpful best practice when discussing anything regarding the study of Astrology.

Full Moon and New Moon 101

Full Moons are always in the opposite sign of the Sun. For example, on May 16th, 2022 there was a total lunar eclipse in the sign Scorpio and the Sun was in the sign Taurus. Scorpio and Taurus are opposites signs. New Moons on the other hand always take place within the same sign the Sun. For example, the Sun is the sign Leo and this new Moon on July 28th will be in the sign Leo.

What You Came For

On Thursday,  July 28th, 2022, there will be a new Moon in the sign Leo. Before we continue, let us get on the same page with our understanding of the concept of Karma. Karma is another word for action—our actions, and an effective way to view this concept is with the awareness that every action has an impact. Reflecting on our actions/ Karma allows us to learn lessons that can assist us with our future actions. When we do not reflect on our Karma, we are likely to repeat similar actions and expect different results. Existing in this repetitive state can make experiencing alignment impossible, leading to a host of heavy emotions like frustration, anxiety, anger, sadness, hopelessness, helplessness, and purposelessness. A simple way to combat these cycles is by reflecting; without it, we are likely to repeat similar actions and expect different results. The concept of Karma and new Moons go hand in hand because, as we know, new Moons are a time of renewal and the start of new lessons. The new lessons we receive during the new Moon phase resulted from the impact of our previous actions.

This upcoming new Moon in the sign Leo will have us experiencing circumstances that highlight the health of our self-confidence. We can use the insight that surfaces to catalyze significant internal change, or we can continue the destructive patterns that only move us further away from how we desire to show up in our lives. Being honest with ourselves and our deepest desires will be the only way to arrive at a place of grounded awareness. The new Moon in the sign Leo is ushering us to be the person we run to for encouragement, motivation and support when our self-confidence is low. Relying on others for validation and confirmation of who we are and what we do is an unsustainable practice that will lead to lower self-confidence and a lack of trust in ourselves. Only we hold the power and authority to end this cycle of suffering by doing arguably the most demanding work we may ever do in our lifetime—transforming our inner critic into an enthusiastic cheerleader!

Journal Prompts

When was the last time you felt insecure and relied on the words of others to make yourself feel better?

What were you feeling insecure about and why?

How often do you find yourself feeling insecure in a day?

What do you think is at the root of the insecurity?

When was the last time you felt you were getting nowhere close to achieving your goals after experiencing a series of setbacks?

Write out 5 positive changes that have taken place in your life between today and one year ago.

The support of our inner cheerleader is essential when we feel the lowest; ironically, those moments may the most feel challenging to show up for ourselves. Timing is everything! It is crucial to begin the transformation of our inner critic into a cheerleader as soon as we become aware of it to strengthen the cheerleader’s cheer. The goal is to create the most enthusiastic, lively and uplifting cheerleader possible.

 Creating a Cheerleader 101 Exercise

For this exercise you will need something to write with and something to right on and a quiet place you can be uninterrupted for 20 - 40 minutes. Please answer the following questions with as much detail as possible.

  1. Identify what exactly you dislike about yourself without sugar coating it

  2. Evaluate why you dislike these habits, behaviours or qualities about yourself and determine whether they came from you and not society, your parents, significant other etc.

  3. Reflect on who you may have projected your self-judgement toward due to your dislikes, and forgive yourself

  4. Envision the refinement  of the disliked habits, behaviours or qualities about yourself

  5. Write down what you need to do to embody the version of yourself in your mind’s eye

  6. Decide to make one small change and what it will be

  7. Create a mantra or affirmation to encourage you to stick to that one small change

  8. Make that one small change today and stick with it for twenty-one days before taking on a new one

  9. Write down ten things you are grateful for

Conclusion

Sustainability takes time to establish, so be gentle, gracious and patient with yourself as you go through this life-altering transformation. Whenever you experience feelings of pressure, impatience or frustration, focus your attention on the reality that if you work on doing this well, you will only have to go through this process once. Each of our journeys is personal and cannot be compared to anyone else’s, so move at your own pace! One day you will find yourself looking within for support and when that day comes, remember what it took to get there.
